The Mission of the Fire Prevention Officers’ Section of Sonoma County

To provide Fire Prevention Officers with unity, education, information sharing, common understanding and application of Fire Prevention concepts and regulations.  To use all available resources to protect the public, all emergency responders, and the environment from injury, loss, or destruction.

Goals

Our mission is best served by striving to accomplish our goals.  Our goals are to…

  1. Provide information and support to the Fire Chief’s Association in a positive, professional, and efficient manner.

  2. Strive to save lives through prevention, education, innovation, and to improve and develop a consistent approach to our prevention efforts.

  3. Enforce code and regulations in a consistent, fair, and timely manner to protect our community and prevent incidents.  Work as a team to promote consistency of regulations in our community.

  4. Provide professional leadership and expertise to our members, training officers, and public.  Earn the faith and trust of the community.

  5. Protect economy and business strength, by being proactive in fire prevention, help reduce emergencies, and minimize negative outcomes.

  6. Give guidance, information, education and training to the public to prepare for disasters, and give direction and comfort to our community when they need us most.

  7. Provide outstanding customer service to meet the needs of our customers. Our customer is any person or group who receives service from us, including our Chief’s, our members, and our families.

  8. Promote cooperation between agencies and stakeholder groups. Make expertise available to enable fast and efficient resolution to problems or challenges.

  1. The quality and consistency of information we deliver to the community.  We are committed to continuous improvement and being unified in our decisions and our regulations.  We are attentive to the needs of the community and lessen the burden of regulations by being unified.
